About me
Kerri Larkin brings more than 20 years of special education experience to her role as Senior Education Advisor. Kerri began her career teaching secondary language arts and special education in District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). She left the classroom to become the director of her teacher preparation program in partnership with George Washington University. Based on her leadership there, Kerri was hired back into DCPS through the Master Educator program, the first of its kind teacher evaluation system to ensure that DCPS students with IEPs had the very best teachers and that their teachers had the very best professional development. From there, Kerri led special education as the Director for Academic Programs and then Senior Deputy Chief of Specialized Instruction until March 2021.
Kerri leverages her experience and expertise in partnership with other District leaders to increase educational equity through meaningful inclusion, evidence-based practice and sustained professional learning. This includes and is not limited to complex decision making for increased equity and excellence, evidence-based experiences for students, teachers and leaders, and the purposeful use of technology.
A native New Englander, Kerri graduated from Providence College with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. She earned her Master of Art in education from George Washington University through the Urban Initiative, an intensive medical model for teacher preparation. She lives with her family in Washington, D.C.
