About me
Jamie Jo Porter is an English Teacher at Bear River High School, and is currently in her 5th year of teaching. She strives to make authentic connections with her students, and develop collaborative relationships based on the practical applications of language arts education in both the “real” world, AND the digital one! Jamie is an advocate for improved mental health practices in public education for both students and teachers, and works to create a more positive culture around teaching and education through her instagram account, @hey.ms.porter. Jamie wholeheartedly believes that students in her classroom are directly affected by their perception of their teacher as “a real person,” and hopes to help other educators tap into the positivity of their humanity through digital communities in social media. Kelbie Jackson is an Instructional Coach at Bear River High School with seven years of experience teaching English Language Arts. She is passionate about increasing literacy in secondary schools and improving student learning through teacher collaboration and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Kelbie also focuses on creating a positive social media presence that highlights the bright side of education. Through her Instagram account, @hey.mrs.jackson, she shares uplifting content and aims to inspire others in the education community. Her experience as both a teacher and coach uniquely equips her to speak on social media's role in educational leadership.
