Learning At My Own Pace: Using Canvas to Build a Self-Paced Classroom
Tuesday February 25, 2025 10:15am - Wednesday February 26, 2025 4:15pm MST
Is the thought of differentiating and self-pacing your lessons for multiple periods of 40-plus students overwhelming? Does it seem impossible? With Canvas, you can turn your classroom into a self-paced space where you can meet the needs of both advanced students and students who need extra support. Learn how to leverage technology to set up your class so your students can have voice and choice in their learning, including pacing. This structure builds in mastery checks, so you can ensure all your students can learn whatever content you teach.

Reignite Passion: Embracing Technology and Learner Agency
Wednesday February 26, 2025 10:15am - 11:15am MST
Reignite your passion for teaching by embracing technology and empowering students to take control of their learning journey. This session will show you how to break down barriers with customized learning experiences tailored to each student’s unique needs, ensuring success regardless of learning style, background, or ability. We’ll explore how AI and live data can help close achievement gaps while ensuring equitable access for all, fostering an inclusive school environment. This isn’t about teaching to the test—it’s about connecting learning to actual students. We’ll dive into how personalized learning allows teachers to meet students where they are, whether they’re passionate about coding, poetry, or even TikTok dances (yes, it counts!). With real-time data, educators can adjust lessons to match students’ interests and strengths, moving beyond one-size-fits-all worksheets to create custom learning experiences that make students feel seen and supported. Get ready to empower students by giving them control of their learning. This session emphasizes student agency, encouraging kids to take charge of their own learning journeys. No more passive students staring at the front of the classroom. Instead, personalized tools and AI enable students to set their own goals, choose their learning paths, and take ownership of their education. Teachers become guides, fostering an environment where failure is a stepping stone to growth, and students are encouraged to ask questions, push boundaries, and think critically. When you ignite student agency, they don’t just learn—they thrive. 🔥

Sheets Just Got Real: Personalizing Instruction Using Google Sheets
Wednesday February 26, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm MST
Google services, including Google Forms, are used by MANY schools across Utah as both a formative and summative assessment tool. However, Google Forms can quickly become overwhelming when asking DOK 3 and 4 level questions with 100+ responses to then read through grade. This is where the wonder of Google Sheets comes into play! This interactive session will teach educators how to utilize Google Sheets to analyze data quickly and provide targeted instruction to individual or small groups of students.

Utah Microcredentials: Earning Credits, Endorsements, and APPEL Competencies Through Self-Directed Learning
Wednesday February 26, 2025 3:15pm - 4:15pm MST
This session will explain what Utah Microcredentials are, how to earn them, and why you want them. We’ll also highlight APPEL, Ed Tech Endorsement, and CTE Endorsement microcredentials. At the end of the session, we’ll help you start earning your first microcredential! Each Utah Microcredential is worth 0.5 USBE credits. Educators are self-directed learners who continually develop new skills and find innovative ways to improve their practice. The Utah Microcredentials System recognizes this and provides educators with an opportunity to earn USBE credits for this self-directed professional learning. Additionally, you can now use microcredentials to earn USBE teaching endorsements! APPEL teachers can also use microcredentials to fulfill their competencies! Utah educators can demonstrate these competencies with microcredentials as an alternative to taking courses. A microcredential, also known as a badge, is a digital form of certification. It represents an educator’s demonstration of effective and consistent use of the target skill or concept as a part of instructional practice. Any educator in Utah’s public education system can earn Utah Microcredentials, including classroom teachers, instructional coaches, counselors, administrators, etc. Earning a microcredential provides the educator with three things: visible recognition of demonstrated competency, leadership opportunities, and USBE credit.
