Hello! My name is Angela Townsend. I am an 8th grade math teacher at Glendale Middle School. I recently moved to the Salt Lake area from sunny North San Diego County. There I taught 14 years as an 8th grade math teacher at Vista Innovation Design Academy (VIDA). I was able to utilize Design Thinking as a part of my curriculum, specifically in math at VIDA. I also served on the magnet school leadership team as well as the Project Based Learning Coach. I also had the special privilege to work with Cathy Williams and Jo Boaler in a special math project at our district as we transitioned to the Common Core Math Standards. I am passionate about math education and equity. I believe as we change and adapt our practices in mathematics, we will create a more equitable and exciting experience for our students in math.
