Empowering Student Sensemaking: A Student-Driven Approach to Learning
Wednesday February 26, 2025 10:15am - 11:15am MST
In today's rapidly evolving educational landscape, we need to help students become invested in their learning experiences by making sense of complex information and applying their knowledge to real-world problems. This presentation will explore the transformative power of student-driven learning in fostering sensemaking across the science, math, and ELA classrooms. Drawing upon practical examples and research-based insights, we will delve into how student-centered strategies can empower learners to take ownership of their education, develop critical thinking skills, and construct meaningful understanding. By shifting the focus from teacher-directed instruction to student-centered inquiry, we can create a more engaging and effective learning environment. The presentation will highlight the role of technology in supporting student-driven learning. Tools such as Nearpod and Lucid can be leveraged to create interactive lessons, facilitate collaboration, and provide students with opportunities to visualize and communicate their ideas effectively. Through concrete examples and practical strategies, this presentation will equip educators with the tools and knowledge necessary to implement a student-driven approach in their classrooms. By fostering sensemaking skills, we can empower students to become lifelong learners and active contributors to society.

360° Coaching: Empowering Leadership from Every Angle
Wednesday February 26, 2025 12:45pm - 1:45pm MST
As coaches, we often find ourselves in leadership limbo. Our responsibility is to implement large initiatives, and often to enact behavior change from other adults, but we may find ourselves without the authority, influence, resources, or clarity to do so. During this session we discuss leadership strategies that work from every angle to help you find success within your environment. We will discuss and practice key actions and mindsets, including “rumbling with vulnerability” in order to encourage open and difficult conversations, using strategic questioning to help clarify expectations and desired outcomes, and acting on the principles of invitational leadership to build trust and relationships in order to help lead and empower others from every angle.

Wednesday February 26, 2025 3:15pm - 4:15pm MST
The library technology teacher and I started a monthly technology club at our school to support teachers using the available resources. We curated a list of resources and planned monthly learning sessions based on teacher interest and available resources. We want to share how teachers and technology leaders can use a similar model at their school to support collective efficacy by crowd sourcing lesson plans to foster authentic technology integration.
